We are so sorry you were in an accident! We are here to help you recover!
If you were involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) in the State of Oregon, your medical expenses are covered up to $15,000 and more. PIP (Personal Injury Protection) insurance is part of every insurance policy written in the State of Oregon. It applies whether you, or another driver were at fault, or if you were a pedestrian or on your bike.
This benefit is inclusive of massage, chiropractic, and acupuncture, as well as medical care, prescriptions, and lost wages related to your injury.
It is your legal right to choose the practitioner you want to work with.
Prior to seeking massage, your primary care physician (MD) or chiropractic physician (DC) must evaluate the extent of structural, nerve and internal/external injuries to ensure that massage is indicated; massage therapists may not diagnose.
Therapeutic assessment and treatment are most effective if started immediately after the accident. Obtain a prescription for massage therapy. You can get one from an MD, or a DC. The prescription must state a diagnosis (i.e, cervical strain and sprain), the number of treatments prescribed, and a 97124 cpt code in order for your massage to be covered by a licensed massage therapist.
